The Return of ‘Flappy Bird’

Flappy Bird is dead. Long live Flappy Bird.

Speculation that “Flappy Bird” would make a triumphant return was there the moment its creator, Dong Nguyen, tweeted that he would pull the maddeningly difficult mobile game from the app store shelves. (He made good on the threat.) It’s too lucrative and popular—who would walk away?

Nguyen remained a fascination for saying he worried about people’s addiction to the game, and that he didn’t want the stress that came with sudden success.

In an interview with Rolling Stone now online, Nguyen said he’s turned down offers from people who want to buy the game. And, yes, he’s “considering” bringing the game back though he isn’t working on a new version.

Today, the goal line appeared a little closer:

When? In what form? We don’t know.
